Careers
We are very proud to hold the Career Wales Quality Mark and have an onsite careers coordinator who arranges vocational placements and accreditation whist engaging in career lessons. She has assisted learners in obtaining college placements and employment. A variety of workshops and placements are also used to provide a wide range of opportunities. Learners have been supported to access placements to volunteer at a radio station, animal rescue centre, nursing home, we have also taken students to offsite workshops including Phoenix project, SkillsCymru employability events and individual student enrichment days.
We also use Xello to complete interactive career, personality, and learning style assessments to help them better understand their unique interests, skills, and strengths. Each engaging assessment encourages reflection, helping students connect who they are with relevant career options. Learners personalise their Xello experience by creating a shareable, online portfolio that showcases their interests, skills, and abilities. As students gain new experiences, their profiles are easily updated to reflect who they are every step of the way. Learners can explore hundreds of career, college, and university options that match their assessment results. There are course and apprenticeship profiles, too! Content is written to a year 7 level, while rich photography and real-world interviews provide an authentic glimpse into their future. Integrated lessons, students build essential skills and knowledge that can help them succeed in the real world. Lessons are personalised based on the learners’ work in Xello. They give learners the chance to reflect, reassess, and build the skills to ensure smooth transitions between critical life stages.
